Merchandising Platform
The eBay shopping experience effectively connects buyers with nearly any item that can be imagined – from cell phones to DVDs to auto parts. We’re designing a compelling merchandizing platform to suggest products to our buyers, expanding the horizon of their shopping experience.
Finding Experience
Develop the “faceted navigation” finding platform introduced in eBay Express in 2006, allowing buyers to progressively refine their search while browsing through multiple categories of products. These projects are at the core of our search experience.
Product Based Experience
Shape the strategy for how Products are integrated into the Buyer Experience. This means creating an engaging experience when a buyer searches for something we clearly recognize as a product (5G iPod, Canon S80 camera, etc.), including reviews, community content, and merchandizing.
My eBay
My eBay is one of the most visited sections of the eBay site. Take the current design and functionality to the next level, helping our buyers and sellers be ever-more efficient and engaged in the eBay experience. Initial concepts are heavy on AJAX and rich internet application design.
eBay Express
eBay Express was launched in early 2006 as a end-to-end shopping experience tailored to new, high-demand items and includes a shopping cart – a first on eBay. This is an opportunity to work on the whole buyer experience from search/browsing through checkout.
Advertising on eBay
Use design vision along with data analysis to help shape our advertising partnerships with Yahoo and Google. This work helps ensure that our shoppers find what they are looking for, even in cases when an item may not be available on eBay.
Shipping
Shipping is a complex task for both buyers and sellers on eBay. We pioneer efforts to simplify this process through features like calculated shipping prices and postage printing through PayPal. The eBay Shipping team is very focused on simplifying our feature set and will be engaging in research and design initiatives to create an even better experience for our members. The shipping team has also made it a priority to make their team the one that everyone wants to join – they’ve had happy hours and offsite meetings several times in recent months.
eBay Stores
With nearly 600,000 eBay Stores worldwide, eBay is by far the largest provider of online store fronts. Like other areas, this team is focused on improving the ease-of-use of their product. The team is developing new ways to help sellers build a memorable brand for their business, and improving the overall experience of buying items from eBay Stores.
Seller Tools & Picture Services
eBay sellers are an incredibly diverse group: totals sales for individual sellers range from a few dollars a year up to tens of millions of dollars per year! Our online and offline applications have to be flexible and incredibly easy to use, all while offering a rich user experience. Designers in this area study our sellers’ needs and help make the process of listing and selling items on eBay intuitive, efficient
